DataCenter Technician Wanted: Contract Work
Hello, I am a consultant looking for datacenter technicians in the New York City area to do datacenter technician work for an hourly wage. This is not full time work but rather on a per job contract basis. I will supply you with the jobs and you will perform them for up to $30/hour depending on your skill set and need to be trained. Must have tools (phillips screwdrivers, wire cutters for clipping zip ties etc..), laptop and cell phone + charger for communicating with customers.
I am looking for contractors with experience doing the following types of work in their past or present employment:
Rack/Cabinet knowledge:
Building 4 Post Racks in cages – A plus but not required
Mounting servers and network gear to 4 post cabinets:
Understanding rack unit measurements and how to mount rail kits according to rack layout documentation.
• Racking and stacking of newly shipped equipment (servers, routers, switches etc..) in 4 post cabinets.
• De-rack equipment, box equipment and ship back to specified address or move to new cabinet in same or different datacenter.
Cabling:
• Cabling devices to switches and pdu`s.
• Great cabling techniques a plus.
• Use of zip ties or velcro zip ties necessary.
• Knowledge of Fiber cables (Single Mode, Multi Mode, rolling SC and LC connectors) and GBIC`s a huge plus (If not I can train).
• Ability to crimp x-cover cables a plus.
• Running 25’ jumpers from one cabinet to another.
Cabinet Audits:
• Trace power/ethernet cables and document PDU/switch ports associated to each device.
• Document rack units taken up by each device in a rack layout.
Labeling or relabeling devices in cabinets as needed.
Maintenance Windows:
• Work as a remote hands technician during customer maintenance windows during prescheduled times helping customers achieve their goals in a timely manner.
• Communicate with customers via Internet chat, Skype or telephonic communication.
• Keep work area clean after work is completed.
Working knowledge of the following types of hardware are a requirement:
• Dell Series of servers: 1950, 2950, R-Series (410,610,710)
• HP Proliant Series of Servers: DL360, DL380 etc..
• Whitebox servers of 1u, 2u, 3u and 4u dimensions
• Cisco and Foundry switches and routers.
• Knowledge of GBIC`s (SFP/XFP)
• Knowledge of inserting line cards and 10gbs modules a plus
• Replacing the following server hardware:
o CPU, RAM, Power Supplies, Hard drives.
